Governors Conference on Women '07

This past week, it seems that Governor Schwarzenegger has been a hard man to miss. He's been in the media, in the trenches, helping with every phase of the relief efforts related to the horrific Southern California Wildfires --now more then 85% contained.

However, on Tuesday at the "Governor and First Lady's Conference on Women" in Long Beach, Ca, he was missed. He was scheduled to speak during the morning session, but came to us live, via satellite from the front-lines of the wildfire--no apologies needed.

We all felt the conference must go on. A record breaking 14,000 women from all over the world came to make history. Politicians, celebrities, athletes, writers,  CEO's-VP's, Philanthropist...everyday hard working woman, mothers, daughters-everyone. You name it, "WE" showed up, as ourselves, ready to tell all of our stories.

Everyone from POM was really excited to attend this incredible event as a trade show exhibitor -serving up delicous POM Juice and our POM Tea, as attendee's to the amazing sessions and last but not least...as contributors. It was our pleasure to serve the  INCREDIBLE line up of VIP speakers their daily does of antioxidants with POM Tea, backstage. Our sister company, Fiji Water proudly served their natural artesian water for the lunch session of this historic event.

Congrats Janet Rutledge! She submitted her name "POM Jack'O Lantern" on Oct 20th for our POM Tea Cocktail name contest. She won 2-tickets to New York Mag's "All Hallows Madness Party" @ Judson Church in NYC! We received a lot of  great, creative fun entries but [sigh] we could only choose one name for the party.

SoCal Wildfires - State of Emergency

This Blog entry is not about POM or promoting a fun event. It's about the nearly 500,000 displaced  So-Cal residents.

Our neighbors, our friends, our relatives.

From everyone here at the POM Wonderful corporate office in Los Angeles, Ca. you're in our thoughts and prayers--respectively.

As mentioned, nearly 1/2 million Southern California residents have been evacuated, and are now standing by as 6,000 incredibly brave and relentless firefighters from So-Cal and across the country, fight hard to save every structure in the path of this fierce wildfire, sweeping through California's southland. Keep up the amazing work and I speak for everyone at POM when I say we're truly proud!

PROM QUEEN & The TvGuide Awards

Why are we blogging about season 1 of the nominated web series PROM QUEEN?  If you watched, you'll have a good idea.  Last Season, the entire cast loved sippin' on prominently placed POM Juice, POM Tea and Fiji water (our sister company) because our juice and tea is super delicious...and oh yeah, the reason...POM was their launch sponsor for the 80-episode web series that aired on MySpace last summer--everyday for 90 seconds. Perfect right?

You can thank former Disney CEO Michael Eisner and his newly formed production studio, Vuguru. The  production of PROM QUEEN is the first of many to be developed and produced by Vuguru, which was founded by another Eisner venture, The Tornanate Company.

Living Healthy with Martha Stewart

Today on the Martha Stewart show, Dr. Brent Ridge presented "Five things people can do to extend their lives". Once he reached the importance of managing a healthy diet, he held up a pomegranate to represent healthy eating. Perfect!

Dr. Ridge is not the only physician turning to the power of the pomegranate for it's incredibly healthy and unique antioxidants. Which pomegranates...the "Wonderful" variety from POM of course!

To further promote the healthy living Dr. Ridge talked about, Martha Stewart gave a gift basket of healthy goodies to every member of the audience! The basket included a bottle of POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice and fresh pomegranate. During the segment, Martha Stewart held up the bottle of POM Wonderful and said...   "This is wonderful!" "I drink this almost every single day"

Dr. Ridge and Martha Stewart also enjoyed POM Wonderful earlier in the week at the ribbon cutting ceremony and reception for "The Martha Stewart Center for Living" at Mt. Sinai, a new site for the outpatient clinical practice of geriatric medicine. The project was spearheaded by Dr. Ridge, of Mt. Sinai Medical Center and funded in part by Martha Stewart, who announced (on her Mothers 91st birthday) she would donate 5 Million dollars to the project, and dedicate it to her Mother, Martha Kostyra. Now that's "Wonderful"

The center will provide clinical care and education for geriatric patients, serve as a training ground for physicians-in-training, and coordinate research on healthy aging. For more information on The Center for living, please visit their website: Mount Sinai Hospital

What a Pair...of POM POMs

Beverly Hills, Ca Sept 29th. POM Wonderful served up our refreshing POM Tea at the "What A Pair" Food and Wine Fund raiser. 

What A Pair is an L.A. based charity that puts on concerts and fund raisers to benefit the John Wayne Cancer Institute.  Actress Joely Fisher and What A Pair producer Ruth Stalford, pictured above with the hits of the night, POM Tea and Oliver, a ten week-old maltipoo. Joely, Ruth and Oliver were just 3 of the 200 +V.I.P guests to attend this great event. Keep up the great work What A Pair!!!

The menu featured a great pair of POM's! Our famous Pomegranate Peach Passion White Tea and the new LIGHT Wild Berry White Tea, along with various other (delicous) food and wine vendors.
