Today in The Seattle Times Dr. Astrid Pujari addressed a readers question about the 2nd leading cause of death for men -effecting 1 in 6. Prostate Cancer. She talks about the power of the Pomegranate and how it all relates.
The piece references the Phase I Study conducted at UCLA, with POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice. Dr. Pujari is not the only one writing about the power of the pomegranate for prostate health.
Since the results of the Phase I and II studies were so promising, many have turned their eyes to the power of the pomegranate for more then just their daily dose of anti-oxidant superpower.
In the Q&A style article, she also quotes some of the very-promising results of the above mentioned UCLA study: "When these men drank 8 ounces of pomegranate juice per day, the
rate at which their PSA number doubled increased from about 15 months
to 54 months, meaning the cancer's growth had slowed. The juice also
prolonged the time that their disease was stable."
